Easter is fast approaching and pupils and teachers alike are excited about the break. Surely Easter and the history of it has been discussed in class so why not making use of your VLE to learn more about it? This can be done either in class or even over the holidays. If the tasks are made fun then the children will be excited to “work” even during the holidays.
Whether such tasks are voluntarily or part of the class is up to you, the teacher. You could also create tasks that include watching videos or even create quizzes about it. If the children are then eager to find out more about Easter they can learn more, and possibly the parents, too! You never know, maybe they are using the VLE all together. Plus, a VLE is a great way to provide parents with easy access to information they can direct their children to as well.
As Easter is usually a very colourful event with eggs painted in all sorts of colours, why not go a step further and teach the children about the various meanings of colours in different cultures? So for example you could set a task that each pupil should describe how they see the different colours and what meaning they attach to it and then you could point them to a video where different meanings are explained in more detail.
Your VLE allows you to connect with your pupils even outside of school and children are thirsty for knowledge. So why not make best use of the options this technology provides you with and make it a fun, but also learnful Easter break!
