LearnAnywhere is a primary school learning platform designed specifically for the needs of this age group. Below are its key features:
Dashboard
Each user can customise their own dashboard by dragging and dropping widgets such as event notifications, a calendar, course updates, and more. This ensures that when they log in to LearnAnywhere they have all the information they need at their fingertips.
Classes
Classes are built up of activities, including quizzes, forums and wikis and resources, such as web pages, uploaded files, SCORM content and embedded documents. Different elements of a class can be tailored to support individual or collaborative learning.
Files
LearnAnywhere provides a personal repository in the form of a built-in file storage system, which can be used to upload and store homework assignments and submit these for marking by a member of staff. Other files such as audio, video and image files can also be stored, creating an online record of achievement.
Messages
The messaging system allows all users to communicate with one another within the LearnAnywhere system, allowing for social interaction whilst teaching pupils about safe and appropriate use of online communication channels. Administrators can tailor the permission settings as they see fit, for example to prevent pupils from messaging staff, or to withhold messaging rights in the case of abuse.
Notices
Notices can be posted globally or per course, giving administrators a simple way to make an announcement visible to a particular group. This also provides a communication channel to parents beyond the traditional mailouts or the school noticeboard.
Calendar
The calendar displays three categories of events: user events, course events and global events. Colour coding allows users to differentiate between different types of event, and aids pupils with time management and gives parents sight of whats going on in their child's daily life.
Profile
Each user has a profile page which they can personalise with details of their hobbies and interests, and with their own avatar and colour scheme.
